Use of LACIM funds:
Money for a twinned village is to be used for the poorest of the poor among the Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians alike. This should be used exclusively for the basic needs of the villagers for better education, better living conditions, medical aid, help for the aged, repair of houses, huts, self help programmes, training in various employment oriented trades, motivational meetings to create social awareness, to set up small savings schemes, tailoring classes, computer classes, loans for petty shops, fish vending, vegetable vending, higher studies, agricultural field, etc. The funds can not be used for any religious purposes such as purchase of clothes for the first Holy communion, Confirmation, catechism books, sponsorship of students in any institutions which foster religious vocation, expenses towards retreats and religious seminars, building or repair of Churches etc.
The President, the Administrative Council & the French Groups decide the final say in any matter regarding the projects.
LACIM does not have a missionary aim.
INFORMATION REGARDING LACIM WORK
1. LACIM wants to reach the poorest, without any racial or religious discrimination. This secular association proposes its help and friendship to any group (village, women’s organization, social trust, etc.,) who deeply needs it and applies for it.
2. The final aim of LACIM help is to allow the people to be self sufficient, to stand on their own feet.
3. LACIM is based on friendship and sharing. The local committee has also to promote a sprit of solidarity and sharing in the twinned place. In order to develop this friendship with the French Group, it has to write regularly to the French Group.
4. LACIM help lasts for a limited time, normally for 8 to 12 years.
5. The use of LACIM money by the Indian twinning has to be decided by a committee that representates the whole community.
