LACIM is a secular movement for friendship and sharing. The French sponsoring groups get linked to groups in India, Africa, South America and elsewhere in the third world countries. They share with the unfortunate and the poor people of these villages their love and concern for their welfare. Being moved by this concern they set apart some amount of money from their monthly income or pension and through fund raising programmes like selling flowers, cakes and handicrafts etc. They send this amount to make the burdensome lives of some of these people a little happier. The people of the twinned villages in turn share their love and friendship with the French Groups through regular correspondence about their condition, culture and traditions. Thus LACIM stands for sharing of mutual concern, strain, joy and cultural knowledge.
